Cida's Dancing Mission

Using dance as a tool to create strong community, Cida creates an environment where participants experience a great sense of joy and connection to their body, emotions, and soul. Her goal is to allow each person to be empowered, acknowledged, supported, appreciated, grounded, and inspired to live life fully.

Who is Cida?

Born in Morrinhos, Go – Brazil, today Cida's heart is split between Brazil, Chile, and the United States, where she lived for 25 years. Although away from Brazil for almost 30 years, she has always carried the Brazilian dance in her hip and heart and she has always been aware that she was born to dance. For Cida, dance without doubt is the ultimate expression of her soul and the source of connection to her roots.

Over the past 25 years, Cida has choreographed and performed in the US, South America, and Europe, with dance groups and artists including Xuxa, Ray Charles, Daniela Mercury, and Airto Moreira.

After studying jazz, modern dance, Latin rhythms, and having studied and taught Brazilian dance for several years, it was at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, Ca that Cida's  teaching style has become increasingly free of technical structures to become  a dance directed to freedom, healing, and transformation.

Inspired by Gestalt Therapy and great pioneers of conscious dance practice with whom she had the great privilege of having them as teachers, sucha as: Anna Halprin (postmodern dancer), Gabriel Roth (founder of the 5 rhythms), Vinn Marti (founder of Soul Motion), among other great inspirational teachers, during the last twenty years Cida has lived, studied, worked, developed her work, and currently teaches dance workshops periodically at Esalen Institute and other retreat centers.

In ispite of having a degree in international relations, Chield development, Film Production, and Body Work, it is on a dance floor that Cida's heart vibrates, facilitating the personification of the soul and seeing participants getting lost and finding thenselves again inside and outside the body.

Currently, besides teaching workshops, Cida also offers weekly classes for women's group and teaches at private events, organizations, and at various institutions, and social transformation projects.
